Venue: The Grand Banquet Hall, Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island Lagos.
Powered by The Winihin Jemide Series, the first highly successful Garden and Flower Show of Nigeria opened its curtains on the 21st -22nd of June 2013. This was the first in a series of shows offering an explosion of colours, textures and scents, it showcased an abundance of gardening expertise, ideas, products and services.
Themed Imagine a Garden, it enticed the imagination of the nearly 800 visitors who viewed the 15 stalls on display. The 3 focal points in keeping with the theme, were designed and interpreted by Winihin Jemide herself, turning the indoor arena into interwoven pockets of paradise.
This show coincided with the launch of a coffee table book titled “Imagine A Garden” authored by Mrs Winihin Jemide, a bold and colourful book of images that takes its spectator through the rich gardens across cities in Nigeria. The book “Imagine A Garden” champions the collective visual beauty of plants grown for the Nigerian environment where boldness is celebrated whether it be a flower, a leaf or massive trees.
The two day event had musical performances from Chee, Timi Dakolo, Precious The Tenor and the Clustered Male Choir.
There were live food demonstrations tagged Garden to Table by Chef Obaskei showcasing the ease with which your garden can provide ingredients for mouth watering delicacies.
This event was shortlisted by Studio 53 Extra Season 3 as one of the “Top 5 Most Captivating Features and Events In Nigeria”. There was a gallery generously donated by Nike Art Gallery with pictures of renowned Nigeria artists displaying landscapes and floral designs.
